As I was getting dressed, I watched a bit of the O'Reilly Factor, which featured Phil Donahue taking up the defense of Moonbat Mama Cindy Sheehan and Bill O'Reilly ripping into him hard. They nearly came toi blows. ["Ze begonnen bijna op elkaar te kloppen."]
I've never been overly fond of Bill O'Reilly, whom I consider to be a self-important blowhard. Here he had clearly met his opposite number.
Yet what struck me about this duel between bolwhard particle and blowhard antiparticle is this. Donahue's whole argumentation was based on appeals to emotion and ad hominems. O'Reilly, for all his faults, was at least some of the time trying to make a rational case.
I was once again reminded of why I viscerally loathe "let it all hang out" "celebrities" of the Oprah Winfrey and Phil Donahue ilk.
Speaking of which: Oprah is threatening some boycott against some store chain where the sales lady supposedly refused to serve her, as she entered near closing time. Oprah claims this was "racism" and that she wasn't served because she was black. Refusing to serve a willing customer near closing time is Bad Business 101 --- but it's a common occurrence in large chain stores with hired sales staff. But I would at least entertain the possibility that (s)he was not racist at all --- and had in fact recognized Oprah --- but decided to make her day by treating a self-important celebrity the way she would an ordinary customer...
Besides, ruining the perfectly nice Hebrew name "Ofra" by turning it into "Oprah" should be indictable as a linguistic crime against humanity :-)
